moving forward

well, i should start by saying i got almost no work done over spring break.  i mean, i read a lot of fiction and got a mental break, which is good.  but i hoped to get more work done and that just didn't happen.  the one important thing i did do was take all the bits and pieces i had written in various places and put them together in one dissertation proposal draft document.  that has been really helpful in thinking about what parts need to be filled in and what parts i need to do more thinking on.

the most important and amazing thing that happened this week was that i had meetings with susan lytle (my previous advisor) and sharon ravitch about their serving on my dissertation committee and they both said yes and expressed a lot of enthusiasm for my work.  i really respect these two and their work so much and i am beyond excited that they have agreed to do this.  i'm really looking forward to working with them.

this upcoming tuesday, in my dissertation proposal-writing seminar, we will be looking at a piece of writing i have produced, so i'm spending today writing it.  i have a lot of pieces of my proposal already done, but as i mentioned in an earlier post, i've been struggling with writing my research design piece, so that's likely what i'll send them.  i'm nervous, but looking forward to the feedback.

have a great week!
